This striking stone property in New Mills enjoys sweeping views across the Derbyshire countryside. Recently, it has undergone a thoughtful refurbishment, carried out in two phases to both enhance performance and celebrate the home’s traditional character.
The first stage of the project focused on replacing the original timber windows. While full of charm, they were draughty and no longer fit for purpose. Our client opted for UPVC vertical sliders – a practical solution designed to provide decades of use with minimal maintenance. Instead of a sharp white, the windows were finished in a soft cream, blending beautifully with the natural stonework. A Georgian Bar layout was chosen to preserve the property’s period detailing.
Phase two introduced a new porch, carefully designed to feel bright and spacious while also serving as a welcoming focal point. To complement the cream vertical sliders, the client selected a Solidor Ludlow composite door in rich Forest Green, finished with gold hardware and Victorian glass detailing. Surrounded by matching cream frames, the porch ties the whole scheme together, balancing functionality with timeless style.
